DOUBLE NEGATIVE BAFTA WIN.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 wins the BAFTA for Special Visual Effects

Double Negative was delighted to be asked by the film's VFX Supervisor, Tim Burke, to be the lead vendor on the final film in this fabulous franchise. The team at Double Negative was lead by VFX Supervisor, David Vickery,who collected a BAFTA alongside Tim Burke,, 3D Supervisor, Rick Leary, 2D Supervisor, Sean Stranks and VFX Executive Producer, Dominic Sidoli.

The team at Double Negative delivered 409 shots and worked on some of the most exciting and visually stunning sequences in the film including the cart ride into the Gringotts vault, the Gringotts CGI dragon and the creation of a fully digital Hogwarts or ‘digi-Hogwarts’ which included extensive battle sequences and environment builds pre and post battle.

Says Vickery: "What an amazing evening, I still can't quite believe it! This award pays tribute to the passion and dedication of the hundreds of Visual Effects artists that have contributed to these films over the years. I feel incredibly honoured to have been part of such a special movie. Well done to everyone at Double Negative; especially to Dom Sidoli, Rick Leary and Sean Stranks - the unsung heroes of the project. I'd also like to say a special thank you to Tim Burke, David Yates and Warner Brothers for giving us the opportunity to work on The Deathly Hallows!"

The Award makes it two years in a row for Double Negative who won for Inception in 2011, a film which went on to scoop the Oscar as well. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. is following that path with an Oscar nomination. The four nominees are Tim Burke, David Vickery, Greg Butler, and John Richardson.

Double Negative's CEO, Matt Holben, said, "We'd like to thank David Yates, David Heyman, David Barron and Tim Burke for allowing us to be involved with their films for the last 9 years. We are thrilled to have been able to play a major part int the effects work in this final installment and very greatful to all the BAFTA members who voted for it. The 2012 Academy Awards will be awarded on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Kodak Theater, Los Angeles.
