2012

Director: Roland Emmerich
Studio: Sony Pictures Entertainment

"Eye popping special effects ensure that this movie will be a smash-hit.." Stephen Farber, The Hollywood Reporter

Anybody who has seen the amazing trailers for 2012 will be queuing up to see the movie as soon as possible! Having worked with director Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day) on 10,000 B.C., Double Negative were incredibly excited to be providing literally earth-shattering visual effects sequences, set in Yellowstone and St. Peter's Square and knew it would be a wild, roller-coaster ride!

Both sequences presented major challenges to the Dneg team, but the Yellowstone sequence was certainly the most difficult, due to the sheer complexity and volume of effects work required. The team, led by Dneg's VFX Supervisor, Alex Wuttke, were faced with several tasks throughout: these included a 12-mile wide Caldera eruption, a 20-mile wide pryroclastic ash-cloud advancing across the terrain, multiple house-sized lava bombs raining down, an escaping RV and several huge fault lines breaking up the ground.

2012 opens in theatres across the US &UK on 13th November, 2009.
